  • 21、On November 24, China launched the Chang’e5 lunar probe from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site on the coast of southern island province of Hainan, aboard the heavy-lift carrier rocket Long March5.

Chang’e5, comprising an orbiter, a lander, an ascender and a returner, with a total take-off mass of 8.2 tonnes, is expected to bring back samples from the Moon using a complicated technological approach which includes unmanned rendezvous and docking(无人交会对接)in lunar orbit.

After it enters the lunar orbit, the lander-ascender combination will separate from the orbiter-returner combination in order to touch down on the Moon. Within 48 hours, a robotic arm will be extended to scoop up rocks and regolith(风化层)on the lunar surface, and a drill will bore into the ground. About 2kg of samples are expected to be collected and sealed in a container in the spacecraft. Then the ascender will take off, and dock with the orbiter-returner in orbit. After the samples are transferred to the returner, the ascender will separate from the orbiter-returner. When the geometric(几何的)relationship between Earth and the Moon is suitable, the orbiter will carry the returner back to Earth.

The landing site of Chang’e5 will be to the west of that of Chang’e3, which went to the Moon in 2013. This site was chosen because the region has a young geological age, younger than the sampling areas of the United States and the Soviet Union more than 40 years ago. This region has never been sampled. The new samples will be of great scientific value.

Pei Zhaoyu, Deputy Director of the Lunar Exploration and Space Program Center of the China National Space Administration, said if the Chang’e5 mission succeeds, China’s current lunar exploration project will come to a successful conclusion. It will also help promote China’s science and technology development, and lay an important foundation for China’s future manned lunar landing and deep space exploration.

    【1】The mission of Chang’e5 is to ________.

A.collect and carry back lunar samples

B.monitor changes of the lunar surface

    C.achieve unmanned rendezvous and docking

D.perform a soft landing on the lunar far side

【2】What is special about the landing site of Chang’e5?

A.It contains much younger lunar rocks.

B.It has never been reached by any country.

C.It accounts for most resources on the Moon.

D.It is the region where Chang’e3 has landed.

【3】What does Pei Zhaoyu think of the success of Chang’e5 mission?

A.It will take China to the forefront of space exploration.

B.It will mark the end of human exploration of the Moon.

C.It will make it possible to sample other celestial bodies.

D.It will pave the way for China’s future space exploration.

【4】What is the best title for the text?

    A.Chang’e5 Brings Back Samples

    B.China Launched Chang’e5 Lunar Probe

C.The Bright Future of China’s Manned Lunar Landing

D.The Development of China’s Science and Technology

  • 23、When we’re young and we dream of love and fulfillment, we think perhaps of moon-covered Parisian nights or walks along the beach at sunset. No one tells us that the greatest moments of a lifetime are short, unplanned and nearly always catch us off guard.

Not long ago,as I was reading a bedtime story to my seven-year-old daughter, Annie,I became aware of her focused look. She was staring at me with a faraway, blank expression. Apparently, completing The Tale of Samuel Whiskers was not as important as we first thought.

I asked what she was thinking about. “Mommy,” she whispered, “I just can't stop looking at your pretty face.”I almost dissolved(溶解) on the spot. Little did she know how many trying moments the glow of her sincerely loving statement would carry me through over the following years.

Not long after, I took my four-year-old son to an elegant department store, where the sweet notes of a classic love song drew us toward a tuxedoed(穿晚礼服的) musician playing a grand piano. Sam and I sat down on a marble bench nearby, and he seemed as astonished by the pleasant theme as I was. I didn’t realize that Sam had stood up next to me until he turned, took my face in his little hands and said, “Dance with me.”

If only those women walking under the Paris moon knew the joy of such an invitation made by a round-cheeked boy with baby teeth. Although shoppers openly chuckled(咯咯笑) and pointed at us as we glided and whirled(旋转) around the open space, I would not have traded a dance with such a charming young gentleman if I'd been offered the universe.

【1】From the passage we know   .

    A. Annie knew how important she was to her mother

    B. shoppers didn’t notice the author dancing with her son

    C. there are bedtime stories in the Tale of Samuel Whiskers

    D. Sam was not surprised at the music which was played in the store

2】When the author knew her daughter could not stop looking at her pretty face, she felt .

    A. sad B. deeply moved

    C. annoyed D. ashamed

3】Why wouldn’t the author trade a dance with her son even if she was given the world?

    A. Because she knew she wouldn’t be given the universe.

    B. Because her son was the most important person to her.

    C. Because she thought she was the happiest one at the moment.

    D. Because it was very important for the author to dance with her son.

4】What does the author want to prove by showing two examples of her kids?

    A. Her kids love her very much.

    B. She enjoys staying with her kids.

    C. The greatest moments of a lifetime always come unexpectedly.

    D. Those women walking under the moon should enjoy the happiness with kids.

  • 24、A warm drink of milk before bed has long been the best choice for those wanting a good night’s sleep. But now a study has found it really does help people nod off — if it is milked from a cow at night.

Researchers have discovered that “night milk” contains more melatonin (褪黑激素), which has been proven to help people feel sleepy and reduce anxiety.

The study, by researchers from Seoul, South Korea, involved mice being fed with dried milk powder made from cows milked both during the day and at night.

Those given night milk, which contained 10 times the amount of melatonin, were less active and less anxious than those fed with the milk collected during daytime, according to the study published in The Journal of Medicinal Food.

Night milk quickened the start of sleep and caused the mice to sleep longer.

While the effect of cows’ milk harvested at different time has not been tested on humans up to now, taking melatonin drugs has been suggested to those who are struggling to fall asleep at night.

Previous studies have also indicated that milk can be excellent for helping sleep because of the calcium content, which helps people to relax.

Milk is also sugar-free and additive-free with nutritionists recommending skimmed milk as the best choice before bed as it is the least fattening. The more fat you take in before bedtime, the greater burden you will put on your body at night.

1According to the text, the mice fed with daytime milk_______.

    A. started sleep more easily   B. were more anxious

    C. were less active   D. woke up later

2Which of the following is true of melatonin according to the text?

    A. It’s been tested on mice for ten times.   B. It can make people more energetic.

    C. It exists in milk in great amount.   D. It’s used in sleeping drugs.

3What can be a suitable title for the text?

    A. Night Milk and Sleep   B. Fat, Sugar and Health

    C. An Experiment on Mice   D. Milk Drinking and Health

4How does the author support the theme of the text?

    A. By giving examples.     B. By stating arguments.

    C. By explaining statistical data.   D. By providing research results.
