21、 Young people's career expectations have become more concentrated in fewer occupations(职业) over the past two decades though social media and technologies like Artificial Intelligence(Al) are developing rapidly, according to a report form the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Traditional occupations from the 19th and 20th centuries, such as lawyers and police officers, continue to trap(使陷人) the imaginations of young people around the world as they did nearly 20 years ago.
The report, based on a latest survey of the 15-year-olds in 41 countries, said the career expectations of youngsters may be “antiquated and unrealistic”.Nearly half of young people around the world wish to work in just 10 of the most common professions. The surveys show that too many teenagers are ignoring, or don't know, new types of jobs that are coming up,particularly as a result of digitalisation(数字化). It is a concern that more young people than before appear to be picking their dream job from a small list of the most popular, traditional occupations, like teachers, lawyers or business managers.
The report found that among boys and girls who perform similarly in science, boys are more likely to expect to work in science and engineering. The top 10 occupations preferred by boys have changed very litle since 2000-but girls are now more likely to want to be architects, police officers, and designers rather than hairdressers or writers.
The report also found a broader range of career expectations in countries with strong and firm occupational training for teenagers. For example, in Germany teenagers show a much wider range of career interests that better reflect patterns of labour market demands. More than a third of students in the UK report a lack of career advice at schools and colleges. Young people's wishes are set as young as age seven, and do not change enough over time to meet demands.

22、I can’t remember if I was nine or ten years old. I do remember that it was the last day of the Boy’s Camp. 【1】 It hurt a lot. The day before for some silly reason I had gotten into a fight with another boy.

23、 A Beach in Bod-rum, Turkey, saw the horror of a human tragedy on Sept 2. A little boy, dressed in a red shirt and blue shorts, lay face down in the sand. Sadly, 3-year-old Alan Kurdi would never wake up again.
Alan drowned along with at least 12 Syrians, including his 5-year-old brother and mother. They were on a journey from Turkey to Greece. Trying to make their simple but dangerous dream of a safe home a reality, they paid with their lives. The tragic photographs of Alan’s lifeless body shocked the world. “What has drowned in the Mediterranean(地中海)is not only the refugees, but humanity,” said Turkish President.
Refugees, according to the UN, are people escaping war or persecution. Their situation is often so dangerous that they cross national borders to look for safety in nearby countries. The Kurdis wanted to head of Europe by crossing to the Greek island of Kos from Bodrum by boat.
The Kurdis’ tragedy was just one story from over 1,800 people who have died in the first six months of this year while trying to cross the Mediterranean to Europe, according to statistics released by the United Nations. Migrants, however, are not necessarily refugees. A migrant may leave his or her country for many reasons apart from war, terrorism, and persecution. They may seek employment, life with their family, or study in another country.
European countries have taken different approaches to the crisis. Germany and France are opening their doors to more asylum(避难)seekers, those who say they are refugees but the status has not been decided by the UNHCR or a government. Other countries, such as Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, have been unwilling to take a large number of refugees for various reasons including economic problems and safety concerns.

24、At times, talking to kids can feel like learning a foreign language. Unfortunately, there’s no handy phrasebook or translation app that can make you sound friendly and firm at the same time. Don’t worry. We’ve put together plenty of conversational tips, tricks, and ideas, so you can have an open and honest chat with any kids in your life.
Sit or kneel at their level.
【1】Even if you’re keeping things light and friendly, a child might feel frightened if you’re towering over them. Instead, grab a seat or take a knee near the child, so they don’t have to look up at you.【2】
Let the child speak without interrupting.
Interrupting will only shut down your conversation. Think of it this way—if you were sharing a really exciting story with a friend, would you want them to interrupt and talk over you?【3】Give children plenty of time to share what’s on their mind, even if they’re having some trouble coming up with the right words. Once they’ve finished sharing, feel free to reply and comment on whatever they shared.
Offer lots of options to comfort your child.
【4】The more you want them to finish the task to your heart’s content, the more they may feel controlled by your command. So, break a task or command into a fun “this or that” scenario(设想). Your child will be happier to play along when they feel in control of their decisions and routine. Instead of telling your child to pack their lunch, ask if they’d like a ham cheese. Sometimes, there might not be any practical options to offer. That’s okay!【5】
A.Just offer alternatives when you can.
B.The same principle applies to kids, too.
C.Some kids don’t respond well to orders.
D.Sometimes, kids just want a listening ear.
E.This can help take the edge off your conversation.
F.Lowering yourself makes you a lot more approachable.
G.Let the children be aware of the value of time and care from others.
