四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、Imagine you got a bad grade on a test. What kind of thoughts would be running through your head? When something difficult like this happens, a lot of us will be hard on ourselves. Now imagine it were your friend who got a bad grade—what would you say to him? Most people say that they would be much kinder to their friend and would say something supportive. They would show their friend compassion, which means they would feel what their friend was feeling and wish to help him. When people show the same level of compassion to themselves, they are practising self-compassion.

One way to think of self-compassion is by breaking it down into three parts. The first part is called mindfulness. Mindfulness just means being honest about how you are feeling without pretending (假装) that everything is okay, and without exaggerating the situation. For example, imagine you have plans to go to the beach on the weekend. When it is time to go, it starts to rain and you cannot go. A mindful response might be to say, “I am disappointed that I can’t go to the beach today”, rather than “I do not care, I did not even want to go to the beach”, or “This is the worst day ever!”

The second part of self-compassion is called common humanity. Failure, imperfection and disappointment are part of the shared human experience. Common humanity reminds us that we are not alone in how we are feeling, and it can make us feel more connected with others around us.

The third part of self-compassion is called kindness. It can help to think about what you might say to a good friend or what a good friend might say to you. You can also take actions to support your body and mind, like getting enough sleep or watching a funny movie.

Some people worry that if they are kind to themselves, they will not try to do challenging things. But being self-compassionate does not mean that you do not want to make changes. It just means that, while you are doing something difficult you can support yourself rather than beat yourself up. Reminding yourself that we all find new tasks challenging, and that we all might fail sometimes, can help us be less discouraged and more motivated to improve ourselves.

Being self-compassionate can set the stage (舞台) for better health, relationships and general well-being. However, it is also important to remember that when you are kind to yourself, the bad feelings and difficult situations will not go away, and they will always be a part of life. The more you open your heart to this reality instead of continually fighting against it, the more you will be able to feel compassion for yourself.

【1】People may need to be self-compassionate when _______.

A.helping a friend out of trouble

    B.performing poorly on the stage

    C.being overproud of successfulness

D.making great progress in their work

B.Being kind to yourself makes difficult situations go away.

    D.Self-compassion means not challenging ourselves.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, which was built in 1872, is very popular in the world. It is one of the world’s finest art museums. I really enjoyed my trip because I love modern arts very much. I think the Dance Class by Edgar Degas is the greatest work of art there.

    Sandy

Built in 1204, the Louvre Museum in Paris is the world’s largest art museum. Nearly 38,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century are exhibited there. It was great to enjoy so many treasures at one time there. Among them, I think the Mona Lisa is a must-see.

  • 27、阅读理解

Rich or poor, young or old, we all have problems. And unless we deal with our problems, we can easily become unhappy. Worrying about our problems can affect how we do at school. It can also influence the way we behave with our families. So how do we deal with our problems? There are many ways.

    By learning to forget.

Most of us have probably been angry with our friends, parents or teachers. Perhaps they said something you didn't like, or you felt they were about a small problem. Time goes by, and good friendships may be lost.

When we are angry, however, we are usually the ones affected. Perhaps we have seen young children playing together. Sometimes they have disagreements and decide not to talk to each other. However, this usually does not last for long. This is an important lesson for us: we can solve a problem by learning to forget.

    By regarding problems as challenges.

Many students often complain about school. They might feel they have too much work to do sometimes, or think the rules are too strict. We must learn how to change these “problems” into “challenges”. Education is an important part of our development. As young adults, it is our duty to try our best to deal with each challenge in our education with the help of our teachers.

    By thinking of something worse.

By comparing yourself to other people, you will find your problems are not so terrible. Think about Stephen Hawking, for example, a very clever scientist, who regards his many physical problems as unimportant. He can't walk or even speak, but he has become very famous and successful. We are probably quite healthy and smart. Let's not worry about our problems. Let's face the challenges instead.

1From the passage we know that ______.

    A. our problems can affect how we do at school

    B. our problems can influence the way we behave with our families

    C. our problems can affect how we do at school and at home

    D. our problems can do nothing to us

2The writer thinks it is ______ in our education.

    A. our duty to try our best to deal with each challenge

    B. impossible to deal with each challenge

    C. difficult to deal with each challenge

    D. easy to deal with each challenge

3We can learn from the passage that ______.

    A. we can solve a problem by learning to forget

    B. we must learn how to change these “problems” into “challenges”

    C. by comparing yourself to other peopleyou will find your problems are not so terrible

    D. AB and C

    4The underlined word “disagreements”in Paragraph 3 probably means ______.

    A. 讨论 B. 争执 C. 打架 D. 和好

5Which is the best title for this passage?

    A. By learning to forget

    B. How to deal with our problems

    C. By regarding problems as challenges

    D. By thinking of something worse
