四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、Xiao Li, a college student born after 1995, used to wash her hair every two days. But as the weather gets colder, she has become lazier. She has bought a mist spray(免洗喷雾), which allows her to wash her hair less often. “I would like to have a product that could save me the trouble of putting on make-up,” she told Orient Today, a newspaper office of Henan Television.

She is not the only young Chinese who spends money because she’s “lazy”. According to a report of December by Taobao on China’s “lazy economy(经济)”, Chinese people spent 16 billion yuan on products and services online in 2018. The post-1995 generation was the “laziest” as its consumption(消费)increased by 82 percent, compared with that in 2017.

The “lazy economy” refers to a new type of consumption which helps to save time and effort.

According to the report, many people of the post-1995 buy high-tech electronic products such as floor sweeping robots and automatic window cleaners, which save the trouble of doing housework. Meanwhile, take-out food delivery(传递)services are also popular among people born after 1995.

Young people are willing to spend money on such products because they want to enjoy the valuable spare time after a busy day at work or school, reported Global Times. Because they need to focus on their studies or jobs, these so-called lazy people want to use their own time better.

For example,Wei Duo, a 21-year-old college student, is an active user of take-out food delivery services. “I once had a birthday cake sent to my friend who lives far from my home. It cost me 50 yuan but it saved me almost half a day that would have been needed to do it myself. My friend was also happy because she got to eat the cake in no time,” Wei told the Global Times.

While the “lazy economy” might be convenient for young people, it might also create problems.

People buy food or other things without leaving home. As a result, they stay at home all day long, playing on computers and smart-phones. According to Jinan Daily, this situation could develop problems of communicating with others.

“The lazy economy is a choice of lifestyle. The saved time should be used to do valuable things.” commented(评论)Orient Today.

  • 25、Decisions, decisions! Our lives are full of them, from the small ones to the life-changing. The right to choose is central to everyone. Yet sometimes we make bad decisions that leave us unhappy or full of regret. Can science help?

Most of us know little about the mental processes (心理历程) that lie behind our decisions. Luckily, what psychologists are finding may help us all make better choices. Here are some of their amazing discoveries to help you make up your mind. Consider your emotions (情感). You might think that emotions are the enemy of decision-making, but in fact they are a part of it. Whenever you make up your mind, your brain’s emotional centre is active. University of Southern California scientist, Antonio Damasia, has studied people with damage (损伤) to only the emotional parts of their brains, and found that they were unable to make basic choices about what to wear or eat. Damasia thinks this may be because our brains store emotional memories of past choice, which we use to help the present decision-making.

However, making choices under the influence of an emotion can greatly affect the result. Take anger for example. A study by Nitika Garg of the University of Mississippi and other scientists found the angry shoppers were more likely to choose the first thing they were offered rather than considering other choices. It seems that anger can lead us to make quick decisions without much thinking.

All emotions affect our thinking and motivation (动机), so it may be best to avoid making important decisions under their influence. Yet strangely there is one emotion that seems to help us make good choices. The American researchers found that sad people took time to consider the various choices on offer, and ended up making the best choices. In fact, many studies show that people who feel unhappy have the most reasonable view of the world.

【1】What does the underlined word “central” mean?

    A.important

A.emotions are the enemy of decision-making

B.people with physical damage find it hard to make up their minds

    A.To think about happy times.

B.To stop feeling regretful about the past.

C.To learn about the process of decision-making.

【4】Why are angry shoppers more likely to choose the first thing they are offered?

A.They often forget their past choices.

B.They make decisions without much thinking.

C.They tend to save time when shopping.

【5】What do we learn from the text?

    A.Emotions are a part of decision-making.

B.Sad people always make worse choices.

C.Only sad feelings affect our thinking and motivation.

  • 27、“Made in China” is having its moment now--and it’s a fashionable one.

The story of Chinese fashion began in 2011 when Feiyue and Huili, both Chinese sports shoe brands(品牌), suddenly got international attention. Their products were seen all over the world. Chinese sportswear brand Li Ning was at the New York Fashion Week in September, 2018. They showed their new designs—sweaters and jackets with Chinese characters.

Shaun Rein, managing director of China Market Research Group, said that the latest Chinese brands no longer catch customers’ eye by low price. He told CNN, “They are sure that they can go head to head with foreign brands. ”

Maybe it is because China’s young people are now more confident about their own culture. They don’t show immediate interest in western culture any more.

“Today’s young people in China are crazy about Chinese cultural elements(元素), ”. Jin Qu, the manager of a clothing shopping website, said at a cultural festival in 2018. “They like these elements printed on their clothes, even the brand picture of Laoganma in China, which was once seen as outside of fashion. But now young people are proud of these Chinese symbols. ”

In fact, many stars in the West are now interested in Chinese cultural elements in fashion. Rihanna, a US singer, for example, wore a Chinese red dress to the 2015 Met Gala in New York. The dress was designed and made by Chinese designer Guo Pei.

“We have to move from making to creating, ” Chinese-American designer Aric Chen once told The New York Times. “We want to replace the words ‘Made in China’ with ‘Designed in China’. ”
