四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、Do you love seeing beautiful lanterns (灯笼) outside? The best time to do this is during the Lantern Festival, which falls on the 15th day of the first lunar (阴历) month. This year it is on March 2, marking the end of Spring Festival celebrations.

Lanterns are a big part of the festival. One story says that the bright lanterns show respect to gods. Another says that people light lanterns to celebrate the disappearance of darkness of winter.

Watching lanterns is a great event. You see lanterns in any sizes and shapes you can imagine, from animals to plants and flowers. To make this activity more fun, people put riddles (谜语) on the lanterns. In some places, people like releasing sky lanterns, which are called Kongming lanterns. A sky lantern is a small hot air balloon made of paper, with an opening at the bottom where there is a small fire source. When the bright lights fly high in the sky, people make wishes.

In old times, the Lantern Festival was also romantic(浪漫). At that time, young girls were not allowed to go out very often except during certain festivals. Therefore, looking at lanterns gave young people a chance to meet each other. A line from Xin Qiji, a poet during the Song Dynasty, shows this: “Restlessly, I searched for her in thousands, hundreds of ways. Suddenly I turned, and there she was in the receding light.”

1When is the Lantern Festival this year?

    A. On January 15th.   B. On March 2nd.   C. On January 2nd.   D. On March 15th.

    C. People make wishes when flying them.   D. They are hot air balloons made of fire.

4Why was the Lantern Festival romantic in old times?

    A. Because it gave young people to meet each other.

    B. Because it offered lanterns in different colors.

    C. Because the streets were busy and beautiful.

    D. Because people could enjoyed beautiful lanterns.

  • 25、阅读短文,从每小题所给的A,B,C三个选项中选择最佳选项。

Happiness is for everyone. You don’t need to care about those people who have beautiful houses with large gardens and swimming pools or those who have nice cars and a lot of money and so on. Why? Because those who have big houses may often feel lonely and those who have cars may want to walk on the country roads at their free time.

In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it. When you are in trouble at school, your friends will help you; when you study hard at your lessons, your parents are always taking good care of your life and your health; when you get success, your friends will say congratulations to you; when you do something wrong, people around you will help you to correct it. And when you do something good to others, you will feel happy, too. All these are your happiness. If you notice them, you can see that happiness is always around you.

Happiness is not the same as money. It is a feeling of your heart. When you are poor, you can also say you are very happy, because you have something else that can’t be bought with money.

When you meet with difficulties, you can say loudly you are very happy, because you have more chances to challenge yourself. So you cannot always say you are poor and you have bad luck. As the saying goes, life is like a revolving (旋转) door. When it closes, it also opens. If you take every chance you get, you can be a happy and lucky person.

    【1】Happiness is for______.

    A. those who have large and beautiful houses

    B. those who have cars

    C. all people

    2When you do something wrong,______.

    A. people around you will help you

    B. you will have no chance to challenge yourself

    C. your classmates will laugh at you

3Which is Not true according to the passage?______.

    A. When you get success, your friends will be very proud of you.

    B. You can get help from others when you make mistakes.

    C. When you don’t do well in the study, your friends will laugh at you.

4Why do we say “Happiness is not the same as money”? Because______.

    A. money always brings happiness

    B. money doesn’t always bring happiness

    C. only rich people have happiness

5Which is the title of the passage?______.

    A. Happiness

    B. Happy and Lucky

    C. Do Something Good to Others

  • 27、   I have just been to the opening ceremony for a new exhibition of early French photographs. Some of them are really beautiful. A French photographer made some very interesting comments about them. Then I went to look at some of my favorite exhibits: a photograph by Lewis Carroll, who wrote the Alice series and also loved cameras and photography, and the Baker’s Boy, a very interesting picture from the 1860s.

There is so much to see. And the museum has three historic firsts: the world’s first negative(底片), the first moving picture and the first shots taken for television.

Before I show you around, let me just tell you something about the museum. The National Museum of Photography, Film and Television was first set up in 1983. We have three million different items in different categories(类别). We store a lot of our collection in special rooms to keep it safe, but there is still a lot to see. We are the most visited museum in the UK outside London. We attract over a million visitors a year, and most of them report that they really enjoyed their visits.

Take the train. It’s very easy. Just go through the city centre square outside the museum and it’s a three-minute walk to Forster Square Station. By the way, before you leave, take a look at the gift shop. It’s rather special. It’s rather great. The kids are loving it.

There will soon be a new attraction here. We will open Experience TV. It will be really interactive. Visitors will be able to use the equipment and go in front of the camera to read the news or present the weather. It will be great fun and very educational.

We have many treasures. There is the Talbot Collection. He was one of the inventors of photography and we have his pictures, letters and notebooks. And we have all the photos taken for a newspaper which was popular from 1912 until the 1960s. Researchers keep on finding new things in it.
