24、Thousands of years ago, in the south of ancient China, there lived Shennong, a man who had an ox(牛)head and human body. Seeing that local people were suffering from disease, he built ladders and houses on a high mountain to store hundreds of medical plants. To remember him, people named the place shennongjia.
The legend(传说)makes Shennongjia in Hubei an inviting place for tourists. Traveling there is a unique experience, as you can see sceneries of the four seasons from different altitudes.“When the bottom of the mountain is summer, the top is spring and while the foothill is autumn, the top is covered with ice,” local people say of the special climate of Shennongjia.
Shennongjia is also home to 5,000 species of animals and plants. Many animals in danger live there, such as the golden monkey, the clouded leopard and the Asian black bear.
One interesting and mysterious thing about Shennongjia is its legend of wild men. Some people once claimed that they saw big prints or big-foot creatures. Yet so far, scientists haven’t proved it is true and some say they are just bears.

The next time you are out walking your dog, be sure to keep your eyes on the ground. Maybe you can find some treasures. That is exactly what happened to a California couple who recently happened to find the most valuable ancient gold in North America.
John and Mary, a couple, lived in Northern California's Gold Country. One day they were walking their dog along the road as usual. However, this time around, John noticed a rusty bottle sticking out(凸出) from the ground. They decided to take a closer look, and then they unearthed it with a stick and took it home.
The can was very heavy, making the couple guess that it was filled with paint. However, when John opened it and saw the side of a shiny coin, he knew he had found gold!
The couple immediately returned to the area with a small shovel to see if there were any more bottles to be found. Sure enough, they found one more. This one had broken and scattered(散开) all its treasures into the ground below. And that was not all—over the next few days the couple found six more in the area. According to the dates of the coins, as well as, the conditions of the metal cans, experts believe that the gold was buried sometime in the late 19th century, right after the California's Gold Rush. John thought that the can that was sticking out, was a mark for whoever buried the treasure there. For reasons that nobody will ever know, he/she never returned to get it back.

I want to be a millionaire (百万富翁). But I'm not super smart, nor am I lucky enough to win a lottery (彩票). What can I do? I spoke with Rich Ramassini, director of strategy for PNC Investments. He told me, a teen, how to become a millionaire the old-fashioned way.
Set a goal
The first and most important thing you must do is to set a goal, Ramassini said. Make sure you write down your goal. This will help you stick to it when things get hard.
Automate saving
Let's say that you make $100 a week and you want to save $20 each week. Set up a rule so that every week, $20 automatically (自动地) goes from your checking account (储蓄账户) to another account for your goal. That leaves you with $80 that you can spend. However, if you take that $100, live your life, sit down at the end of the week and say how much money you have left, Ramassini said. "Often it is a big, fat zero, or even worse."
Grow your money
If you just put your money in a bank account, it's safe. But in exchange for that, you accept a lower rate (比率) of return. There are ways to make your money grow more quickly, Ramassini said. You can lend it to somebody, for example. He doesn't mean your friends. He means buying financial products (金融产品) like bonds (债券) and CD (大额定存), which give you a higher rate of interest in exchange for taking on more risk (风险).
【1】What do we know about Rich Ramassini?
A.He once won the lottery.
B.He is a millionaire who is super smart.
C.He works as a director at PNC.
【2】In Rich Ramassini's opinion, it is the most important to _______ if you want to be rich.
A.set a goal
B.earn money by yourself
C.put your money in a bank account
【3】What does the underlined sentence probably mean?
A.Most people are able to save a large amount of money.
B.Some people just run out of the money and fail to save any penny.
C.Some people spend all the money on eating so that they can be really fat.
【4】You can make your money a higher rate of return by _______.
A.buying bonds and CDs. B.saving it in a bank account. C.lending the money to friends.
【5】Which piece of advice might Rich Ramassini give in the end?
A.You've got to tell your money what to do or it will leave.
B.Save your money in the bank until your bank account looks like a phone number.
C.The quickest way to double your money is to fold it over and put it back in your pocket.
