24、Success does not belong to a select group of individuals(个人). Success belongs to those who are willing to go after it and try their best to do what they have to do. Here are some useful practical ways for you if you want to be a success.
Desire. Desire is the strong wish to achieve a goal. Without desire you have nothing. Before you can run with desire, your goal must be plain, clear, and it must also be exciting.
Show up. Seventy percent of success in life is showing up. You can’t have a best seller, if you have never written a book. You can’t get your dream job, if you’re afraid to turn in an application. Showing up doesn’t guarantee(保证) success, but if you don’t show up, you won’t succeed.
Fail. Unless you’re willing to have a try, fail unhappily, and have another try, success won’t happen. To have success you have to do things the right way, but often the only way to do something right is to first fail at it. As Thomas J. Watson said, a simple formula(公式)for success is to double your rate of failure (失败). So welcome failure, become a student of failure, learn from failure, and soon you will succeed.
Work Harder. Everyone runs, but everyone is not willing to run for an hour every day. Success is not about doing what the common person can’t do. It’s about doing what the common person is unwilling to do. And on a deeper level, it’s about creating habits that the common person is unwilling to create. It’s the habit of doing things with excellence that causes success.
Enjoy the Journey. Success is a journey, not a destination(终点). Success is not a certain car or a certain house or a certain happy marriage. Success is the enjoyment of the journey. You have to enjoy the journey.
Someone once said, “Unless you change how you are, you will always have what you’ve got.” You have to change…you will change, you will succeed.

Everyone in the fourth grade works at the fair. Some sell ice cream, drinks and snacks, others take care of the little children who ride the horses. I got the second job and I've never forgotten it, because that's where I met Tiger.
My job was to help little children get on the back of a little horse. I kept telling the children to wait their turn and holding ice cream for them while they rode about. It’s clear that I was growing older and should be more responsible.
Suddenly, a boy came to the horse. He took the little horse's reins (缰绳)! The horse stopped, and the girl on its back started to fall. I was trying to reach the girl when I saw Tiger go by my legs. It held the horse's reins and pulled the horse away from my legs. I caught the girl just before we both hit the ground. The girl sat on top of me. She was laughing at the ice cream on my face. The horse's reins were in Tiger's mouth!
Thanks to Tiger's fast action, I saved the little girl. We were both heroes. And Tiger, the fastest dog I've ever known became my new best friend.

26、Bing DwenDwen, mascot of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, has become very popular, as its image of a fat and cute panda wrapped in a layer of ice attracts millions of audiences and athletes at home and abroad.
Wearing a full-body transparent shell, with its head surrounded by an “ice ribbon” of five colored rings, the panda mascot looks like an astronaut.
The panda is often regarded as a symbol of China. Its helmet shows the snow and ice of winter sports.
The name “Bing DwenDwen” is of several meanings in the Chinese language, with “Bing” the Chinese word for “ice” and “Dwen Dwen” meaning robust and lively. That’s also about the sports.

The mascot was designed by a 14-member team led by Cao Xue, a professor from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. The design had stood out from around 6,000 entries from 35 countries and regions.
In order to make the image of Bing Dwen Dwen lively, Cao and his team visited Wolong National Nature Reserve in southwest China’s Sichuan to watch the pandas carefully. They found baby pandas’ heads and body ratio are different from that of adults, making them cuter. So, they improved the image based on the baby panda.
People lined up for hundreds of meters to buy mascot-themed products outside the flagship store for Olympics products located in Gongmei Building in Wangfujing Street of Beijing on Sunday.
Beijing Winter Olympics organizers will increase product offerings, Zhao Weidong, a spokesman said Sunday in response to the rising need of the mascot.
