四、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 24、Have you been finding yourself in hot water with just about everyone in your life? Have your parents got angry with you because you didn’t clean up your room even after they had repeatedly told you to do so? Have your teachers been criticizing you for not handing in your homework on time? Maybe you are even in trouble with yourself. Are you yawning (打哈欠) all the time? Do the things that used to interest you no longer make you feel good?

Did you answer “yes” to some or even all of these questions? Do you consider yourself to be a gamer? If so, then maybe it’s time to turm off your computer and read this article carefully.

More and more study has proved that too much gaming can change your brain structure (构造). It can also lead to some physical illnesses that will remain with you for a lifetime. Your love for games is taking away your freedom to control your own future. This is not a joke!

Luckily, there are ways for you to help yourself so that you can start feeling good about your life again. The first step is to accept that you’ve got a problem. You can say this to your friends. Next, spend some time learning about what is happening inside your brain as a result of too much gaming. Think about how you feel when you are playing your favorite games. As soon as you win a round, do your hands move to start a new game without you even thinking about it? This is a clear sign of addiction (上瘾) — a brain disease.

In order to fight this disease, you may have to give up playing a particular game. Limit the amount of time you spend on gaming (the new national rules may be just what you need). You can also get help from your friends. They can, for example, help you to take up some new hobbies.

The teen brain is very flexible: it can repair itself. The key, however, is whether you are willing enough to give the chance to do so.

It is time to click “____*____”.

【1】What is the underlined phrase “in hot water with” in the passage similar to?

    A.get into trouble with

    B.have fun with

    C.be popular with

    D.be honest with

【2】According to the passage, which of the following is true?

A.A good gamer doesn’t have a clear sign of addiction.

B.Too much gaming can cause some lifelong illnesses.

C.The love for games can help you control your future.

D.Once you have a game addiction, it can’t be cured.

【3】Who is the article probably written for?

    A.Teachers.

    B.Parents.

    C.Teenagers.

    D.Doctors.

【4】Which is the best choice for “__*___” in the last sentence?

    A.Back

    B.Start

    C.Quit (退出)

    D.Update (更新)

  • 25、Many people travel to different places in the world by air. Usually it takes a long time, perhaps half a day, for passengers to stay in the plane. So airlines( ) offer passengers food. But it is common that they feel bad about food taste. Do you agree?

To solve this problem, airlines try hard to improve their food. They would like to do so because they don’t want to lose customers.

However, according to scientific research, part of the reason why plane food tastes bad is that at high altitude(海拔) we can not taste things as well as we do on the ground. Also scientists have found that our noses become very dry even before a plane takes off. As the plane moves up, the change in air pressure(气压) reduces(降低) one third of the sensibility(感觉) of our taste buds ( ). So our taste buds become senseless. The sad fact, however, is that our noses don’t know it.

All of these help explain why food on the plane tastes so bad. They also help explain why airlines choose to offer passengers salty and spicy(辛辣的) food. Without doing so, the food would be tasteless.

Now there are many researches on this. According to one of them, some volunteers are asked to lie with their feet higher than their heads for weeks. And scientists write down their feeling about food taste.

Though scientists try their best, it is not as easy as they thought. Because they can’t deal with the special environment successfully, such as the change in air pressure(气压), making food taste good is still hard for them.

1In Paragraph 2, this problem means________.

    A. passengers stay long in the plane   B. food on the plane tastes bad

    C. passengers have no food to eat   D. food on the plane is expensive

    2From Paragraph3, we know that________.

    A. No one can find out the reasons

    B. people can taste well anywhere and anytime

    C. high altitude is part of the reason of plane food’s bad taste

    D. our noses are not dry or wet on the plane all the time

3Why do scientists feel it hard to make food on the plane taste good?

    A. The volunteers don’t know about food taste.

    B. The volunteers don’t understand them at all.

    C. They can’t find enough volunteers to try it.

    D. They can’t solve the special environment problem.

4What is the best title of the passage?

    A. Taste of Airplane Food.   B. Airplane Travel.

    C. Scientific Research on Noses.   D. The Change in Air Pressure.

  • 26、During the day we work and play and at night we sleep. Our bodies rest while we sleep. In the morning we are ready to work and play again. It is while we are asleep that our bodies grow most. Boys and girls, eight or nine years old, need ten hours of sleep every night. Our bodies need plenty of air when we sleep. If we do not get enough fresh air, we wake up feeling tired. While in bed we must not cover our heads. If we do, our lungs(肺)will not get enough fresh air. If we open our windows at night we can have plenty of fresh air. Cool air is better than warm air.
