二、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 26、   "B-boys and b-girls go down!" Dancers then drop to the ground, where they pull off some power moves like spinning on their backs, and whirling on their heads like a human cyclone (旋风). They finish it all off with a cool "freeze," pausing in a gravity-defying pose. Recognize those signature stunts? Those moves are breaking and the dancers are breakers.

Today, breaking is beloved by fans around the world, but it all started in the 1970s in the New York City. According to hip-hop historians, a lot of the credit goes to DJ Kool Here, who had an idea that led to a pop culture breakthrough. When playing music at parties and dance clubs, this creative DJ used two turntables to mix sounds from two records.

Why? Kool Here used that technique to extend, the length of the break, which is a section of a song when most of the instruments drop out and the percussion (打击乐) continues. It's a good time for dancers to show their impressive moves. During Kool Here's lengthened breaks, some dancers came up with creative skilled moves, drawing inspiration from martial arts, to gymnastics.

The new dance style-breaking, caught on in New York. The dancers teamed up, forming crews that faced off in informal competitions. One at a time, breakers took turns showing off their stuff, and sometimes the audience judged, delivering their decisions via cheers and applause. While the performers went all out to upstage each other, an actual stage was not required — the battle could take place at a city park, party, or roller rink. While in today's formalized battles. dancers aren't just come to the formal stage to compete for bragging rights and street credits, but for official honors and cash prizes, which is decided by official judges.

In 2020, there was some major breaking news for b-boys, b-girls. The International Olympic Committee announced that breaking will be an official event in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, a bold decision that's part of the group's efforts to attract younger audiences. At a famous venue in downtown Paris, b-boys and b -girls from around the world will "go down"— and go for the gold!

  • 28、   If there is one thing I'm sure about, it is that in a hundred years from now we will still be reading newspapers. It is not that newspapers are a necessity. Even now some people get most of their news from television or radio. Many buy a paper only on Saturday or Sunday. But for most people, a newspaper has become a habit passed down from generation to generation.

The nature of what is news may change. What basically makes news is what affects our lives-and the big political stories, the coverage of the wars, earthquakes and other disasters, will continue much the same. I think there will be more coverage of scientific research, though. It's already happening in areas that may directly affect our lives, like genetic engineering. In the future, I think there will be more coverage of scientific explanations of why we feel as we do-as we develop a better understanding of how the brain operates and what our feelings really are.

It's quite possible that in the next century, newspapers will be transmitted electronically from the Fleet Street and printed out in our own home. In fact, I'm pretty sure that is how it will happen in the future. You will probably be able to choose from a menu, making up your own newspaper by picking out the things you want to read-say, sport and international news.

I think people have got it wrong when they talk about competition between the different media. They actually feed off each other. Some people once foresee that television would kill off newspapers, but that hasn't happened. What is read on the printed page lasts longer than pictures on a screen or sound lost in the air. And as for the Internet, it's never really pleasant to read something just on a screen.

1What is the best title for the passage?

A.The Best Way to Get News B.The Changes of Media

C.Make Your All Newspaper, D.The Future of Newspaper

2In the writer's opinion, in the future   .

A.newspapers will not be printed in publishing houses any longer

B.more big political affairs, wars and disasters will make news

C.newspapers will cover more scientific research

D.more and more people will read newspapers

3From the passage, we can infer   .

A.newspapers will win the competition among the different media

B.newspapers will stay with us together with the other media

C.television will take the place of newspapers

D.the writer believes the media will die out

4The underlined words "feed off" in the last paragraph means .

    A.depend on B.live on C.fight with D.kill off

Mama Sebona lived on a hillside, a long way from the shop.

To get to the shop, she had to walk along the footpath, down the hill, through the river, along the valley and through the cornfields to the dusty road where there was a little white shop with a red roof under the gum trees (树胶树).

Mama Sebona had five children: Thandi, Sipho, Lindiwe, Themba and Busisiwe. They had never been to the shop.

One day, Mama Sebona needed to go shopping.

“Please, Mama, may we go to the shop with you?” begged the children. “We'll help you carry the shopping, Mama.”

    So Mama Sebona said, “Yes.”

The children were very excited. They lined up behind Mama and set off down the footpath.

They went down the hill, through the river, along the valley and through the cornfields to the dusty road. And there, just a little way further, was the white shop with the red roof under the gum trees.

While the children looked around with big eyes at all the interesting things in the shop, the shopkeeper got a cardboard box and put it on the counter ( 柜台). Mama Sebona told him what she needed: cornmeal, sugar, coffee, apples and bread. Then she whispered quietly, “and a bag of sweets.”

The shopkeeper smiled and put one in the box quietly.

Then it was time to go. The children crowded around to help. Thandi took the cornmeal, Sipho took the sugar, Lindiwe took the apples, Themba took the bread and Busisiwe took the coffee. Mama Sebona took the box. The children all set off in a line behind Mama, down the dusty road.

As they walked through the valley, the children became tired and wanted to play games, so they began to ask Mama one after another to carry the shopping for them.

Mama sighed (叹气) and put the shopping in her box.

By the time Mama reached the river, the children were nearly at the top of the hill, running and laughing.

Mama walked slowly through the water. She sat down on a big rock on the other side. She put the box next to her. She rested her hands on her knees. She looked very tired.

Thandi looked back and saw her.

“What's the matter with Mama?” she cried.

All the children raced back down to the river.
