  • 1、请根据上下文内容,将文中划线部分译成汉语或者英语。

Almost every kid will be asked the question of whom you like better, your mother or your father. 1 There is no doubt that mother is very great as she gives you the life, while father is also of importance. Father’s Day is invented to show gratitude(感谢) to fathers. Its coming has a story.

The first person to propose(提出) the idea of Father’s Day was Mrs. Dodd in 1906. She wanted a special day to honor her father, whose wife passed away many years ago. 2.为了谋生,她的父亲每天努力工作。At first, Mrs. Dodd wanted Father’s Day to be celebrated on her father’s birthday, but later President Johnson signed a paper to declare the third Sunday of June was Father’s Day. Since then, it became an international day. It is not only to honor one’s father, but also the fathers of all the people.

3 Father’s Day reminds people to show gratitude to their fathers. Get ready to thank your daddy for all that he has done. Prepare some surprises, send him greeting cards, make tea for him and many more. 4. He loves you all the time and no matter what difficulty you meet, he will stand by your side forever.

There are many ways to give thanks to your father. As a student, it’s a great gift to realize your dream through hard work. However, when you grow up, just going home now and then is the best way.5.在你有空的时候,记得经常打电话给他。

  • 26、Better think twice before choosing a password for email, online bank or shopping. Simple passwords are easy to be stolen.

A password is like a key to your home. If someone steals it, he’ll get chances to steal something else. We use passwords everywhere in our life. We are so used to passwords that we don’t pay any attention to them until we lose or forget one.

A study of 28,000 passwords recently stolen from a popular website showed that people often do the easy thing. It found that 16% took a first name as a password. Another 14% used the easiest keyboard combinations such as “12345678”or “QWERTY”. 5% of the stolen passwords were names of television shows or stars popular with young people. 3% of the passwords expressed feelings like “I don’t care”, “Whatever”, “I love you” or their opposite, “I hate you”.

Robert Graham, who did the study, advises people to choose a password that is longer than eight characters with one capital letter(大写字母) and one symbol.

Of course, safe passwords don’t mean those hard to remember. Forgetting your password is sometimes a big headache for you. Maybe, the perfect password is easy for you and hard for others.

  • 27、When we think of paper, we think of newspapers and books. But there are many other uses. Only half of the world’s paper is used for books and newspapers.

Paper is very good for keeping you warm. You have perhaps seen homeless men sleep on a large number of newspapers. In Finland, it is sometimes -40℃ in winter. The farmers wear paper boots (靴子) in the snow. Nothing could be warmer.

Each year, more and more things are made of paper. We have had paper cups and plates for a long time. But now we hear that chairs, tables, and even beds can be made of paper. Besides paper boots and shoes, you can wear paper hats, paper dresses, and paper raincoats. When you have used them once, you may throw them away and buy new ones.

The latest use of paper seems to be paper houses. These are not small houses for children to play in, but real, big houses for people to live in. You can buy a house with three rooms for about 500 dollars. You can put it up by yourself in a few hours, and you can use it for about five years.

【1】Only half of the world’s paper is used to ________.

    A.help the homeless people

    B.print (印刷) newspapers and books

    C.make chairs, tables and beds

【2】The farmers in Finland wear paper boots in winter ________.

    B.to be cool

    C.to keep their feet warm

【3】The latest use of paper seems to be paper houses. These houses are ________.

A.not expensive and easy to build up

B.made for children to play in or for homeless men to live in

C.made only for the rich people

【4】After you use a paper raincoat, you may ________.

A.use it for a long time

    B.sell it to others

    C.throw it away

“ Money can’t buy me love,” the famous UK rock band the Beatles once sang. But what about happiness?

According to Elizabeth Dunn and Michal Norton, “money can make you more satisfied with life” . The secret is that you need to know 【1】 to spend it. In their book Happy Money: The New Science of Smarter Spending, they offer tips for happy spending.

    • Buy 【2】 instead of things.

A pair of new shoes may make you fappy for a while, but the joy soon disappears. Spend your money on experiences such as going on holiday or visiting a museum, which will make you 【3】 than things and give you something to talk about when you are with your friends.

    • Make it a treat.

You love hamburgers, but if you have one every day, the enjoyable experience will finally become boring. So, make a hamburger a special treat 【4】 a whole week of hard work.

    • Invest (投入) in 【5】.

The combination (结合) of using time and money on someone else is the magic formula (公式) for happiness. If you are preparing a birthday gift for your friend, stop thinking about buying a bracelet (手镯). Instead, go buy the beads (珠子) and 【6】 the bracelet yourself. After all, a gift made by hand not only shows your thoughtful mind, 【7】 also better expresses how much you care about your friend.

Even with these tips, however, Dunn and Norton said that you shouldn’t “ bet on”   (孤注一掷) money buying happiness. Happiness can’t be searched for, but it comes to you slowly—it’s the result of having something meaningful to do, something to hope for and someone to 【8】.
