二、选词填空 (共1题,共 5分)
  • 2、

    A. without  B. Snowman   C. find out   D. that   E. pictures   F. tallest   G. quickly

Is there something strange high up in the world's 1 mountains? If so, is it a big bear? Is it monkey? Or is it a kind of man?

No one knows. This mystery has puzzled the world for years.

In 1887, a mountain climber found large footprints in the snow. They looked like the footprints of a very large man. But men don't walk 2 shoes in the snow!

In 1906, another climber saw more than footprints. Far off, he saw a very large animal standing on two legs. As he watched, it ran very 3.

Fifteen years later, newspaper had new stories about the "something". A mountain climber said he had seen the "4" walk slowly across the snow, far below him. He said it looked like a very large man.

From then on, more and more people had stories to tell. But not until 1951 did a mountain climber bring back of large footprints. "The pictures showed clearly 5 the Snowman walked on two legs." So it was not a bear or a monkey. Could it be an ape man? The mystery grew! And the mystery keeps growing. Some day we may 6 what it is that makes the large footprints.

Andrew, from Edinburgh, had his limbs cut off after a snow storm at the top of a mountain in the Alps for five days, 15 years ago. He learned how to walk again within a year with the use of prosthetics(假肢) and has taken part in marathons(马拉松) to raise money for charity. But his greatest challenge is mountaineering.

Last year the man returned to his beloved activity, he wanted to stand on the top of the Matterhorn, a dangerous peak in the Alps. At least 500 people have lost their lives there.

  • 22、Saturday, June 16th

In the morning, we went camping along a road in Green Natural Park. We were happy because it was a sunny day. We were expecting an enjoyable twoday holiday. On the way, we kept singing and making jokes.

However, in the afternoon, when we finished our lunch at one oˈclock, it was dark and windy. Soon, it rained heavily. Unluckily, none of us brought an umbrella. We ran about but we could find no place to stay.

Twenty minutes passed and it was still raining. There were hours to go before we reached the campsite(野营地). It was even worse that our small compass(指南针) showed that we went the wrong way. We had lost our way!

We had to make a quick decision as it was raining cats and dogs. Chris said we could set up a tent, so Mary and Tom helped to set up the tent. Chris and I tried to make a fire to keep us warm. But we were unable to light the fire, as everything was wet. We dried ourselves, talked and waited inside the tent. At about five o’clock, it stopped raining. We decided to give up the camping trip because all of us were very tired.

This camping trip may not be very successful but we know each other better. And the most important thing I’ve learned from this trip is the importance of team spirit.

1The underlined sentence “it was raining cats and dogs” means ________.

4The writer has learned the importance of________from the trip.

    A.making a decision B.working together C.setting up a tent D.taking a compass

  • 23、   China and Western countries have something different in cultures about certain animals, but when it comes to pigs, we have the same idea—pigs are ugly, lazy and stupid.

Just look at some Chinese sayings such as "Boiling a dead pig' and "A pig looking in the mirror is still a pig." And in English, there are some expressions like "Eating like a pig" and "Pigs might fly." None of them are complimentary (赞美的).

However, pigs have some good qualities (品质). They are even as smart as dogs and elephants. They have good memories. And they know whether (是否) people treat them well or not.

A UK cartoon, Peppa Pig is a most popular cartoon. The four members in the pig family teach children from all around the world about love, friendship and the value (价值) of family. And a Chinese cartoon film, the Adventures of Me Dull, is also very famous. In the cartoon, the little pig, Me Dull, has a heart of gold and always works hard towards his dreams. Most people want quick success, but Me Dull is slow and patient, and not afraid of failing again and again.

Maybe when we talk about pigs next time, we should think of their good qualities.

1China and western countries have________in cultures according to the passage.

A.the same idea towards pigs B.different ideas towards pigs

C.the same idea towards all the animals D.different ideas towards all the animals

A.pigs have bad memories B.pigs don't know who treats them well

3The writer gives the two examples of cartoons in the passage to show________.

    A.pigs have good qualities

    B.the two cartoons are well-known

C.both Chinese and English children like pigs

D.China and Western countries have different cultures
