21、What is the most important thing to a mountaineer? To Jamie Andrew, it′s everything but his limbs(四肢).
Andrew, from Edinburgh, had his limbs cut off after a snow storm at the top of a mountain in the Alps for five days, 15 years ago. He learned how to walk again within a year with the use of prosthetics(假肢) and has taken part in marathons(马拉松) to raise money for charity. But his greatest challenge is mountaineering.
Last year the man returned to his beloved activity, he wanted to stand on the top of the Matterhorn, a dangerous peak in the Alps. At least 500 people have lost their lives there.
Andrew tried to climb in August 2013. They started very early in the morning so that they would have time to come bake before nightfall. When they were about 200 meters from the top, the group was forced(被迫) to turn back because of the bad weather.
“It′s very hard to let go of a dream or a goal,” says Andrew. “But safety is the most important. Getting as far as we did was a great success in itself, and I feel very proud of that.” He is making plans for a second try.

22、Saturday, June 16th
In the morning, we went camping along a road in Green Natural Park. We were happy because it was a sunny day. We were expecting an enjoyable two-day holiday. On the way, we kept singing and making jokes.
However, in the afternoon, when we finished our lunch at one oˈclock, it was dark and windy. Soon, it rained heavily. Unluckily, none of us brought an umbrella. We ran about but we could find no place to stay.
Twenty minutes passed and it was still raining. There were hours to go before we reached the campsite(野营地). It was even worse that our small compass(指南针) showed that we went the wrong way. We had lost our way!
We had to make a quick decision as it was raining cats and dogs. Chris said we could set up a tent, so Mary and Tom helped to set up the tent. Chris and I tried to make a fire to keep us warm. But we were unable to light the fire, as everything was wet. We dried ourselves, talked and waited inside the tent. At about five o’clock, it stopped raining. We decided to give up the camping trip because all of us were very tired.
This camping trip may not be very successful but we know each other better. And the most important thing I’ve learned from this trip is the importance of team spirit.

23、 China and Western countries have something different in cultures about certain animals, but when it comes to pigs, we have the same idea—pigs are ugly, lazy and stupid.
Just look at some Chinese sayings such as "Boiling a dead pig' and "A pig looking in the mirror is still a pig." And in English, there are some expressions like "Eating like a pig" and "Pigs might fly." None of them are complimentary (赞美的).
However, pigs have some good qualities (品质). They are even as smart as dogs and elephants. They have good memories. And they know whether (是否) people treat them well or not.
A UK cartoon, Peppa Pig is a most popular cartoon. The four members in the pig family teach children from all around the world about love, friendship and the value (价值) of family. And a Chinese cartoon film, the Adventures of Me Dull, is also very famous. In the cartoon, the little pig, Me Dull, has a heart of gold and always works hard towards his dreams. Most people want quick success, but Me Dull is slow and patient, and not afraid of failing again and again.
Maybe when we talk about pigs next time, we should think of their good qualities.
