六、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、   Sophie, a 14-year-old British girl, suddenly changed a lot in class. She lost her interest in study and often sat at her desk with her head down.

Ethan Miller, one of Sophie’s teachers, found the reason: she was bullied ( 欺凌) online. Sophie received impolite messages on her phone and on Facebook. Miller shared Sophie’s story on the website of The Children’s Society, a children’s group in the United Kingdom.

Sophie was not alone. Not long ago, Korean top star, Chui Se-ri killed herself after years of being bullied online. According to a report in September, one in three young people, in 30 countries, said they were ever bullied online. Twenty percent of those bullied students chose not to go to school because of it. The study surveyed (调查) more than 170,000 young people aged 13-24 from countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America. Most of them said social media, like Facebook and Twitter, are the most common places for online bullying.

At the same time, online bullying could have serious results for young people. If they are bullied  online, they may not want to ask the people around them for help. Instead, they just keep the bad feelings to themselves. That may be the reason why they choose to hurt themselves or even kill themselves.

To work out the problem, national help and public support are badly needed. The government ( ) and schools should pay enough attention ( ) to this problem. At the same time, training for teachers and parents to stop online bullying is also necessary.

Meanwhile (与此同时), here is some advice to keep yourself safe on the Internet. First, make sure that you show enough respect (尊重) to others, although you don’t have similar ideas, values or beliefs. Second, if you experience online bullying, the best response (反应) to a bully is no response at all. Last but not least, keep a record of anything if it shows proof (证据) of online bullying, like screenshot ( ). You can use this to report and stop them.

1The writer led in (引入) the topic of the article

A.by listing some numbers B.by telling Sophie’s story

C.by sharing his ideas D.by reporting the latest news

2What can we infer (推断) from the passage?

A.Facebook and Twitter are the most common places for online bullying.

B.Online bullying is troubling a large number of young people these days.

C.The government has already made some rules to stop online bullying.

D.If the public (公众) don’t pay enough attention, this problem may become worse.

3If someone sends impolite messages to you online, which of the following is the best?

    a. call the police   b. make a response   c. keep a record   d. send impolite messages back

    A.a,b B.b,c C.c,d D.a,c

4If we put the passage into three parts, which of the following is the best?

    ①=Para.1 ② Para. 2 ③ Para. 3 ④ Para. 4   ⑤ Para. 5   ⑥ Para. 6

    A.②③④⑤⑥

    B.②③④⑤

    C.①②③④⑤⑥

    D.①②③④⑤

  • 23、   The quick action of Nick helped five people escape a fire on Hope Road. Nick said he usually left his house about 5:30 a.m. to do morning exercises, but that day he decided to stay at home to get his daughter ready for school. As he looked at his neighbor’s house, he realized that it was on fire. “I saw smoke and flames and ran over and started beating on the side of the house, shouting, ‘Your house is on fire! Your house is on fire!’” Nick remembered it was at about 9 a.m. that the firefighters put out the fire.

Beverly Penny and her husband, Clark, along with their younger daughters, were sleeping in the living room next to the kitchen when they heard Nick beating on the walls.
