六、阅读理解 (共4题,共 20分)
  • 21、   I love going to water parks for fun. However, many people think that water parks are bad for the environment, because the parks waste water. There is not too much drinking water in many parts of the world, so people think water shouldn't be used just to have fun. It's true that thousands of liters (公升) of water are used every day at a single water park. And there are nearly 2,000 water parks around the world, so that's a lot of water!

Water park operators understand that they need to save water, especially in places with dry climates (气候). One solution (解决方案) that has been developed is to recycle (再循环) water. Using special filters (过滤器), water parks are able to clean and reuse most of the water in their facilities (设施). Some indoor water parks are able to recycle as much as 97 percent of the water they use. Outdoor water parks lose water because of the sun. Building attractions in the shade (树荫) will help stop water from being lost. So new designs are being created in order to keep water in the pools and prevent it from being wasted.

Water parks attract (吸引) millions of people each year, so they aren't going away soon. If you think water is wasted at water parks, think about how much more water you have wasted so far! In that case, you could argue that water parks actually help save water.

1Many people think water parks are bad for the environment because ________.

A.the parks waste much water B.people throw rubbish away everywhere

C.the parks pour polluted water into the river D.people drive cars in the park

2One solution to solve the problem is to ________.

A.close the water parks B.stop people from visiting water parks

C.recycle water D.only open the water parks to children

3The outdoor water parks can save water ________.

A.by building the pools under the sun B.by building the pools in the shade

C.by pouring less water into the pools D.by moving the pools to an indoor place

4The writer thinks the water parks ________.

A.waste too much water B.give people much joy

C.should do nothing D.actually help save water

  • 22、This is a story about a boy named Sparky. For Sparky, school was all but impossible. He failed every subject in the eighth grade. He got a zero in physics. It made him the worst physics student in the school’s history. He didn’t do much better in sports. Although he tried to join the school’s golf team, he quickly lost the only important match.

  • 24、   As I enjoyed the soft sunshine in the pool, my 8-year-old daughter swam up behind me.

    "Guess who, Mommy?" she said.

"No idea. Who is this mystery (神秘的) person?" I joked.

The pair of us talked and laughed together for the rest of the afternoon.

"Remember this," I told myself. "You are happy, right here, right now."

Fast forward a few months, and my thoughts sounded different.

"Just keep going," I would think, or, "How many sleeps until the weekend?"

I didn't like what I was likesomeone sleepwalking (梦游) through the week, running on coffee and too tired at night to do anything but watch TV. I thought the Christmas break would recognize (使再次充满活力) me, making me ready to take on another year of early starts. But I had to listen to my heart.

My patient husband and friends had listened to me going over the decision for six months, but the time for talking was over. It was time to make my choice: My daughter needed me and I needed her.

When she was really young, I loved the freedom of going to work as the sun was rising, happy that my family was still sound asleep. Then later, my daughter would set her alarm (闹钟) so she could wake up early with me to chat in the dark together.

The morning I planned to tell everyone I was quitting (放弃) my job, we sat together on the couch. I told her how nervous I was about sharing my news in a few hours' time. Stroking (抚摸) her hair, I asked my daughter what she thought about my decision. "We'll be so much happier, Mommy," she said.

Life is never simply a choice between job and family. Ask anyone, and family always comes first.

Besides, I'm not disappearing there are plenty of projects to keep me fulfilled.

D.To advise parents to play more with their children.

2What was the writer’s life like a few months ago?

B.She kept a balance (平衡) between family and job.

C.She enjoyed the freedom of getting up early.

D.She asked her daughter to wake up early every morning.

3Why did the writer want to quit her job?

A.She dreamed of trying something new and exciting.

B.She wanted to spend more time with her family.

C.She was treated unfairly at work.

D.Her husband and friends advised her to take a break.

4The best title of the article is__________.

    A.Daughter and I B.Family always comes first

C.Making the right choice D.The afternoon in the pool
